Manatees depend on healthy and abundant

seagrass beds for their primary food source. 

Pollution, high nutrient loads and poor water quality have

decimated seagrass beds in the Indian River Lagoon

along Florida’s east coast.

As a result, these gentle creatures known as sea cows

are starving to death at an alarming rate.

Numerous organizations are studying the issues, 

proposing solutions and taking action to

help Florida’s manatee population survive.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Matawee Cards 

supports conservation efforts.
