Ballet is a beautiful art form. The combination of classical music and the dance create a wonderful environment that you get involved in when you are in the theater enjoying the show.

As a child growing up in Caracas, Venezuela I used to accompany my grandma to theater play, classic music concerts and ballet.

Painting a ballet dancer is a way to remember her and my childhood.

Inspired by my best friend Kim who is a Land Surveyor and our countless conversations about perspective and the viewpoint for the backgrounds in art.

She once told me, “It is all about the Vanishing Point” and then while I was setting up a vanishing point for a background, the idea came to me, mixed with thoughts about George Seurat pointillism and a Venezuelan artist I grow up admiring, Cruz Diez and his kinetic artwork, to try to use the vanishing point and combine it with Negative Space.

I'm using lines, negative space and a Vanishing Point to create a painting that the viewer's mind will complete.
